FA REGIONAL TALENT CENTRES TO EMERGING TALENT CENTRES

The Female Talent Pathway started to change last season, 2022/2023. At the beginning, during the season and at the end of season 2022/2023 many Clubs who ran RTC, certainly in our area, began to replace those RTC's with ETC's. The WRGFL, therefore, created 3 County Squads at U12, U14 and U16. Those squads have had a very successful season.

WEST RIDING COUNTY LEAGUE GIRLS SQUADS - MOVING FORWARD

As part of the change to the Talent Pathway many Girls/Mixed Leagues will be continuing to provide playing opportunities for the most talented female players in their Leagues. The West Riding County Leagues are creating a number of squads to compliment those already in place ready to compete in season 2023/2024, those squads will be at U10 (new squad), U11 (new squad), U12 (new squad), U13 (current squad - no trials), U14 (current squad but trials for new players) and U15 (current squad but trials for new players). Players can only play in their proper age group, there are no dual ages at County level this coming season.

The West Riding County League Girls Squads will be managed/coached by independent coaches (minimum Level 2) who will oversee a training and matchday programme. The Managers/Coaches will have no involvement in any youth teams in the age groups they are managing so will be totally impartial when it comes to squad selection. Girls will play for their Clubs on a weekly basis and should there be a clash of fixtures, league games will be postponed. 

WEST RIDING COUNTY LEAGUE GIRLS SQUAD TRIALS

We will be holding trials for the following squads, U10, U11, U12, U14 and U15 on Sunday 4, 11,18 and 25 June 2023 between 17:00-20:30. Players will be asked to arrive no later than 15 minutes before their trial time to enable registration to take place. The trials will be held at the Wetherby Sports Association, The Club House, Lodge Lane, Wetherby, LS22 5FN.

Players should ideally attend all 4 training sessions but should they be unable to attend them all it will not affect the selection process for them individually. 

Please pass all this information plus the link to the application form below to your players so they have the opportunity to trial. Players will not be playing solely for the County sides but will play/train weekly for their grassroots Club. We envisage 6 games a season for the County Sides plus 14 training sessions which will be held on a Sunday evening.
